Tourism in Tonkin from the early 20th century to 1945

Abstract

This article presents tourism in Tonkin from the early 20th century to 1945, clarifying the general orientation of the French Indochinese government to develop tourism as an economic sector. This article delves into tourism in Tonkin through the formation of tourism agencies, organizations, tourism activities with varied tourism types (coastal and mountainous resort tourism, travel tourism, pilgrimage tourism, and festivals); and the development of tourism services such as hotels, motels, and transportation.
