Dinh Tuong is naturally blessed with favorable conditions for developing rice cultivation such as fertile land, mild climate, Tien river’s abundant fresh water resource and alluvium that creating productive fields; and abundant labor force. This article attempts to sketch a panorama of rice cultivation in Dinh Tuong between 1954 and 1963, in which it tries to delve into agricultural economic policy and rice cultivation under the Republic of Vietnam government. This paper also points out Dinh Tuong people’s efforts to overcome difficulties caused by warfare and organize rice cultivation activities to solve food problems, improve life and contribute to the overall economic development of the provin.
