Targets of the “Gold Week” in 1945

The target of the “Gold Week”, in the framework of the Independence Fund, is not common people in general but the wealthy. Therefore, the event’s development was closely connected with the relentless campaign that aimed at these rich classes in Cuu Quoc newspaper, a propaganda agency of the Viet Minh and the new Government of Vietnam. It included gold collection announcements, documents on the Purpose and Program of gold collection, propaganda folk songs, the exhortation letter from President Ho Chi Minh, daily announcement of the results, invitations to auction precious artifacts, awarding special gold medals to big contributors, and extensions of the deadline of gold collecting.
