Abstract

After the Geneva Agreement (7/954), to successfully lure and force nearly 900,000 northern migrants to the South, mostly Christian, the Ngo Dinh Diem administration, with US and French supports, actively established affiliated agencies that sponsored the Christian migration and settlement. The process of establishment, organization, function and operation of those migrated-involved institutions remain little known in the study on migration after the Geneva Agreement. Based on Vietnamese and foreign primary sources, particularly those at the National Archives Center II (Vietnam), the author attempts to present and systematically discuss the issues outlined in this article, and from which necessary conclusions can be drawn.
