Abstract

Since the two countries officially established diplomatic relations in 1979, the US-China relationship has been recognized by researchers as one of the most interesting pairs in major countries’ interactions due to its complicated developments and unpredictable complexity. In the Asia-Pacific, the administrations of President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden find China a competitor of the US due to its increasing "rise" as a major power in recent years. At the same time, both administrations laid out their strategic approaches to respond to challenges posed by China. To be able to investigate and clarify the similarities and differences in the ways the two governments deal with a common factor: China, this article aims to compare the policy approaches of the Donald Trump and Joe Biden administrations to point out the consistency and changes in the US policy toward China.
