Abstract

In the early stages of the third Indochina War, France sought to re-impose the colonial regime in Vietnam. One of the French plots was to separate the Southern region from Vietnam, turning it into French territory to break the solidarity of the Vietnamese people. During this period, the newly established Democratic Republic of Vietnam had to face many internal and external challenges. Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam implemented policies to solve the country's urgent problems while preparing for a long-term resistance war against the French. On the diplomatic front, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam has always affirmed that the South is a part of Vietnam's territory. Vietnam's independence and territorial integrity are inalienable. This article reflects the activities of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and France around the sovereignty of the South.
