Abstract

This article, by using historical early sources from Vietnam and China, aims to clarify the geographical and political position of Jiaozhou in southern China, as well as its role in the policies of the Southern Han government in the early tenth century. Additionally, it will conduct a specific analysis of changes in the diplomatic relations between the two sides. This not only contributes to a better understanding of previous assessments regarding the role of the Khuc clan in Vietnam's historical process but also helps Vietnamese historians provide a comprehensive explanation of historical events in the Vietnam-China relationship, as well as the international context of Vietnam's struggle for autonomy in the early tenth century. This research will not be only an important foundation for reevaluating and clarifying many unanswered questions in exploring the Vietnamese history of the tenth century in Vietnam but also serve as a guide for analyzing and elucidating various other events in the long and complex historical relationship between Vietnam and China, both in the past and the present.
