Le Hoan and the resistance war against the Song in 981: A view from Viet Nam thong su

Abstract

In Vietnam’s history of against foreign invasion, the first resistant war against the Song led by Le Hoan and the Early Le dynasty in the spring of 981, has important historical implications. In order to help Chinese readers understand more about Vietnamese History, Vietnamese General History was presented in China, coedited by two authors, Quach Chan Dac and Truong Tieu Mai, and published by the People's University of China Publishing House in Beijing (2001). In terms of scientific methodology, the two authors inherited many previous scholarly achievements, and at the same time, have their own interpretations on many issues.However, the book’s contents are subjected to debate and need further discussion. Within the scope of this article, we would like to express a few opinions on the book’s section related to to the first resistance war against the Song led by Le Hoan.
