Some discussions on the location of the Phu Dung pagoda

Abstract

In 2008, Xua and Nay Magazine cooperated with Tre Publishing House to collect and publish a number of articles by researcher Truong Minh Dat on a volume titled Nghien cuu Ha Tien. In his studies, Phu Dung Pagoda and Chieu Anh Cac are issues that Truong Minh Dat carefully examined. He concluded that the current Phu Dung Pagoda is not the original mentioned in Gia Dinh Thanh Thong Chi, but was erected on top of Chieu Anh Cac foundation. Based on historical records and today’s map analysis, however, we strongly believe that the current Phu Dung Pagoda was built from on the very foundation of the old Phu Dung Pagoda, and there is no mistake about it.
