Abstract

In today’s province of Khanh Hoa, there are geographical areas where people from Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, etc are living together where terms such as "settlement camp", "Northern village", and "54 Northern people" are still mentioned. This is the "legacy" of the Sai Gon government’s campaign to migrate people from the North after the Geneva Agreement (July 21, 1954). In Khanh Hoa, the process of integration for a large number of northern people was implemented by Ngo Dinh Diem administration for nearly 5 years (1954-1959) through the following steps: setting up settlement camps; consolidating settlements and localizing settlement camps. This article aims to clarify the journey to the "second homeland" of these northerners and search for the origin of some Northern migrants.
