On the original homeland of the Tran Dynasty’s Thai Bao Do Tu Binh (1324-1383)

Abstract

Up to now, information recorded about Do Tu Binh's original hometown has been said to be in Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province. However, through a new research that exploiting ancient bibliographies and the results of field surveys in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Vinh Phuc provinces in July 2023, we have discovered that Do Tu Binh's original hometown is not in "Tam village, Hung Nguyen, Nghe An" as previously recorded, but in Ha Trang village, Giap Son district, Kinh Mon district (present-day Lac Long commune, Kinh Mon town, Hai Duong province). This new discovery has completely changed previous perceptions and understanding about Do Tu Binh's original homeland. Within the scope of this article, we provide new documents and base on objective and scientific analysis and evaluation to confirm that Do Tu Binh's original homeland is not in Tam village, Hung Nguyen, Nghe An but in Ha Trang village, Giap Son district, Kinh Mon district.
