Economic relations between Nghe An (Vietnam) and Xieng Khouang (Laos) from 2010 to 2020: An overview

Abstract

The relationship between Nghe An province (Vietnam) and Xieng Khouang province (Laos) occupies an important role and is considered the epitome of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos. Strengthening by that historical bond, in the period between 2010 and 2022, Nghe An and Xieng Khoang have cooperated and tightened bilateral relationship and constructed a more comprehensive and integrated economic cooperation, investment, and trade. By analyzing the changes, achievements, limitations and causes of the Nghe An - Xieng Khouang economic exchanges, this article reaches some conclusions that both confirms the importance of the relationship and suggests issues that need addressing to promote the exchanges of the two provinces in the current context.
